YOU MUST BE OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE TO HAVE ANY OF THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURES

IMPORTANT Precare (All SPMU)

Prior to your appointment

No alcohol 24hrs prior or Ibuprofen/Asprin 48 hours prior as this can affect your overall results and during treatment.

Please contact me before booking if you've had previous SPMU or Microblading from another artist. This way we can assess if you are a able to go ahead with the treatment. A consultation is advised if you are unsure which treatment is best for you or what to expect from the outcome.

If you were to get vaccinated for Covid, please make sure that there is a 14-day window in between your vaccination appointment and your appointment.

(1-2 weeks prior )

No aspirin
No blood thinners
No niacin supplements
No vitamin E supplements
No Fish oil supplements (please check supplements)

(1-2 weeks prior for eyebrows)

No waxing, threading or tweezing

(2 weeks prior)

No eyebrow tinting

(3 days prior)

No sun exposure

No Microdermabrasion, Hyaluronic acid /AHA/BHA (at least 2 weeks), stop Retinol (at least 4 weeks) or any products with Retin A/ Tretinoin, etc.
No Accutane (at least 5 months)

(2-4 weeks prior or 2 weeks after procedure)

Lash Tinting (baby eyeliner only)

Avoid lash tinting, perming, curling 2 weeks before and can be done 2 weeks after.

Lash & Brow Growth Serums (baby eyeliner & spmu brows)

Stop using lash serums, especially Latisse 6 weeks prior to your procedure. The reason is that those types of serums are stimulants. They will make your eyelids too fragile and vascular for cosmetic tattooing.

(6-8 weeks prior or 2-3 weeks after procedure for lip blush)

No fillers/ injectables

Some medications may affect  eligibility for a permanent makeup treatment

Taking certain medications can effect your skin and the way it heals. Taking many different medications at once will also make it harder to predict the effectiveness of a permanent make-up procedure (no, its not the same as a regular tattoo).

The following medications will prevent proper pigment retention and if you take any of these regularly, you should NOT get permanent makeup:

  • Triflusal (Disgren)
  • Clopidogrel (Plavix)
  • Prasugrel (Effient)
  • Ticagrelor (Brilinta)
  • Ticlopidine (Ticlid)
  • Cilostazol (Pletal)
  • Vorapaxar (Zontivity)
  • Dipyridamole (Persantine)
  • Coumadin
  • Pradaxia (Dabigatran)
  • Xarelto (Rivaroxaban)
  • Eliquis (Apixaban)
  • Savaysa (Edoxaban)

Taking Antibiotics

Must be off antibiotics 2 weeks prior & post procedure(4 weeks total).

ADDITIONAL HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS

Cold sores

If you have a history of cold sores you'll need to start taking a prescription anti-viral (Valacyclovir, Denavir (penciclovir), acyclovir (Zovirax) or Valtrex), at least ONE week BEFORE your proposed procedure. Cold sore outbreaks are often triggered by stress or trauma to the lips or skin. Therefore, if you are a carrier, a PMU procedure will likely cause an outbreak if you do not take anti-viral medication prior to the treatment. A cold sore outbreak will affect your healing process and the results of the procedure and can even lead to scarring. To ensure the best possible results for clients, we require clients not skip this step. As such, if you have a history of cold sores and do not follow these instructions, Your appointment WILL be canceled and a cancellation fee assessed when applicable.

Other relevant conditions

The following conditions do not prohibit you from getting permanent make-up, but should be considered when deciding if a procedure is right for you. If you experience any of the conditions listed below, by scheduling you except the possible outcomes described:

Cirrhosis of the Liver:

Susceptible to infection

Scar tissue: Scars can be tattooed over. however, Scar tissue may hinder proper healing or prevent pigment from taking to the skin. This is more likely if you've received a microblading or permanent makeup procedure in the past.

Platelet Disorders - Causes more bleeding to occur, and thus, lower pigment retention.

Moles/raised areas in or around the treatment area: Pigment will not be put into moles or anything raised but you can tattooed around them

Thyroid medications: pigment may fade faster and require more frequent or additional touch-ups

Auto Immune Disorder of any kind (MS, RA, Lupus etc): Due to the effects of the medication used to treat these disorders, pigment is not retained as well

Anemia: requires additional touch-ups

Tanning: May alter pigment color over time

How to Prepare for Eyeliner Tattoo

After eyeliner tattoo your eyes may swell slightly or redden because of the delicate skin and sensitive areas, some clients feel it is best not to make any social plans for a day or two following any procedure. It is always best to avoid these procedures within months prior to important life events such as weddings, vacations etc. Also if you have vascular eyelids, eyeliner tattoo is not recommended. Your eyes can be sensitive and bleed easily. Consult with your artist first.

No Eyelash Extensions

No eyelash extension 1 week before and until 4 weeks after your touchup session.

No Mascara

No mascara on the day of the procedure and have your eyes free of makeup and moisturizer. Too much wax based makeup affects the healing process and pigment implantation.

No Contact Lenses

No contact lenses, bring glasses and you can wear your contact lenses after 48 hours post procedure.

If you have a previous eyeliner tattoo you need to send us a photo.

If you have had any type of eye surgery, including Cataract, Lasik, blepharoplasty, you must get medical clearance from your physician.

The skin must be free of all irritations.

For example, ingrown hairs, blemishes, eczema and psoriasis

Clients with diagnosed conditions that have been waived are required to bring a doctor's note stating their approval.

Additional Precare

To ensure you get the best results out of your treatment and to be accepted for Lip Blush you MUST do the following;

  • On the day, eat before your treatment, this will help with your blood sugar levels. Ensure lips are hydrated by drinking plenty of water and using lip balm/Vaseline.
  • If you suffer from cold sores or herpes outbreaks, please get a prescription for antiviral medication from your physician or order from an online pharmacy as soon as possible. Antiviral medication must be taken. It is often recommended to take medicine for at least 3 days before and 2-3 days after the procedure. If you suffer cold sores more often you can consider longer treatment. Aciclovir is the oral version of the well known topical medication Zovirax.
  • Exfoliate your lips every day for 1-3 minutes before bed and 5 days prior to your appointment as we want a soft, smooth canvas to work on. This will also ensure the best colour retention. Use a simple sugar scrub (sugar and honey or baking soda and water forming a thick paste) and gently exfoliate your lips. You can use any type of sugar you already have at home. Alternatively you can use a toothbrush rotating in circular motions. Apply a lip mask (lip balm/Vaseline) immediately after exfoliating.
  • To ensure healthy lips keep them moisturized during the day with a simple lip balm like Vaseline. No dry lips in sight!
  • I cannot go ahead with the treatment if you turn up to your appointment with sunburn or cold sores.

Sun burnt skin means we can not go through with the treatment… so keep the sun away with an SPF lip balm. Same goes for cold sores - if you had a cold sore and we tattooed over it, it would create a massive cold sore farm on your lips… not cute.

If you do suffer from cold sores this does not stop you having a procedure. Even if you don't suffer from outbreaks I recommend you apply an antiviral cream such as Zovirax 5 days prior to and 5 days after treatment or take any medication you may have. The virus can lay dormant so this will minimise any risk of outbreak. If you have a cold sore on treatment day don't panic, we can postpone for 14 days or when it's completely healed.

*Please bear in mind that if your lips are not in good condition then the treatment cannot go ahead. This will result in the booking fee being forfeited.

Salt & Saline Tattoo Removal

Those with Diabetes, Chemotherapy patients, Thyroid disorder patients, those with High Blood Pressure, or any autoimmune diseases MUST provide a mandatory Doctor’s note on the day of the saline tattoo removal procedure.

PRECARE

It is very important to follow the precare instructions. Each guideline is in place to ensure the best results possible. If the precare instructions are ignored, the appointment may be declined due to the skin possibly not being in the right condition to tattoo.

  • No alcohol or caffeine on the day of the procedure.
  • No Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, Fish Oil, IBUprofen, Coumadin 3 days prior to the appointment. (Tylenol is acceptable)
  • No waxing or tinting 1 week before the procedure.

  • Consult with a Doctor before discontinuing any medication.
  • Please make sure the skin is not sunburned in the slightest.

AFTERCARE

For the best healed results possible, it is very important to follow the aftercare instructions until the area is completely healed.

THINGS TO AVOID:

  • Do not pick or scratch the treated area. Picking at the area may cause scarring, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, or infection.
  • Avoid anything that may cause the area to get “soggy”. The area must remain as dry as possible. (sweat, steamy showers, swimming, saunas).
  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning.
  • No facials, Botox, chemical treatments, chemical exfoliants, retinoids, or retinol until completely healed.
  • Avoid side sleeping, sleeping face down or covering the area in any way. Try your best to sleep on your back.
  • No makeup or skincare on the area until fully healed. TIP: Makeup or skincare on the rest of the face is fine, just be careful when applying/removing. It is best to leave a 1 inch clearance around the area just in case.
  • If you have pets at home, be sure to change all pillow cases every 2-3 nights during the healing process. If you don’t have animals, change all pillow cases once as soon as you get home.

AFTERCARE ROUTINE:

Just like it was the case with initial implementation, you need to follow a saline removal aftercare routine to make sure the area heals properly.

Follow these tips after each saline tattoo removal treatment to avoid complications:

  • Keep the treated area clean and dry during the first 2-3 days. Clean as instructed by your removal technician.
  • From day 3, use a moisturizer recommended by the technician to help the wound heal faster and to minimize itching.
  • Don’t pick the scabs if you want to avoid scarring.
  • Avoid heat, hot water, heavy sweating, swimming, and sun exposure.
  • Stay hydrated.
  • Avoid high-pressure water.
  • Refrain from alcohol and smoking.

ONCE YOU ARE HEALED:

(YOU WILL KNOW YOU ARE COMPLETELY HEALED WHEN ALL SCABS HAVE FALLEN OFF)

  • It is very normal to see some slightly warm tones in the healed area immediately after the scabbing has fallen off.
  • Once all scabbing as fallen off, apply Li-FT Heal Care Oil morning and night (as often as possible for best results) for 30 days after the procedure.
  • Stay out of the sun for 30 days after the procedure.
  • Avoid retinols or heavy exfoliants for 30 days after the procedure.
  • No botox or injectables for 30 days after the procedure.
  • Apply sunscreen in the area daily.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning Contraindications

If you suffer from any of the following you are not a good candidate for Dermaplaning:

  • Acne vulargis
  • Skin cancer
  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • Open wounds/skin lesions
  • Recent chemical peel procedure (4-6 weeks)
  • Chemotherapy or radiation
  • Family history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation
  • Haemophilia
  • Scleroderma
  • Tattoos (facial)
  • Thick, dark facial hair
  • Moles, numerous raised lesions on the skin

  • Use of Isotretinoin (e.g. Roaccutane®) in the past 6 months
  • Oral blood thinner medications
  • Active infection of any type, such as herpes simplex or flat warts

Dermaplaning Precautions

If you suffer from any of the following then you may still be a good candidate for Dermaplaning depending on the severity.

  • Rosacea, eczema or dermatitis – depending on area and severity
  • Acne – can be treated depending on severity
  • Pregnancy

Dermaplaning is a safe way to exfoliate for pregnant women because it’s a simple mechanical exfoliation that doesn’t involve any acids or chemicals. Care should be taken surrounding use of topical products, and treatment should only be performed on healthy skin. Sometimes hormonal breakouts make dermaplaning unsuitable.

  • Prescription retinol within 1-2 weeks of treatment
  • Very thin skin may not be suitable
  • Recent use of topical agents such as glycolic acids, alpha-hydroxy acids and Retin-A (4 weeks)

Depending on the product and client’s skin, this can be done without over exfoliation.

  • IPL/Laser Facial treatments within the last month
  • Vascular lesions: major couperose skin should be avoided. Minor facial vessels on a case by case scenario.
  • History of cold sores: Whilst treatment can be performed preventative measures should be taken and treatment should not be carried out if a breakout is present or in the healing process. Without the use of a preventative oral anti-herpes medication, the cold sores can spread due to micro-tears in the skin.

Microneedling

Microneedling Contraindications

If you suffer from any of the following you are not a good candidate for Microneedling:

  • Scleroderma, collagen vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities
  • Active herpes infections
  • Blood clotting problems (ie poor wound healing)
  • Active bacterial, viral or fungal infections
  • Taking immunosuppressant medication
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Had radiation treatment within the last year
  • Have areas of the skin that are numb or lack sensation
  • Scars that are less than six months old
  • Facial surgery in the past 6 months
  • Use of isotretinoin (eg Accutane) in the past 6 months

Notes:

Psoriasis and other dermatosis that can be koebnerized, can potentially be triggered by needling even if they have been quiescent for years.

Microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing or other facial treatments such as chemical peels, botox, skin fillers, laser skin treatments or plastic surgery should be completely healed.

Microneedling Precautions

  • Avoid Accutane in the six months prior to beginning your treatment sessions.
  • Do not use topical agents that may increase the sensitivity of your skin such as retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or acids 5-7 days prior to your treatment.
  • Do not take anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen, Motrin, or Advil for at least 3 days prior to your microneedling session. These will interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical for your skin rejuvenation.
  • Avoid IPL/Laser procedures, unprotected sun exposure, or sunburn for at least 2 weeks prior to your procedure.
  • Avoid Botox 2 weeks prior to Microneedling.
  • Procedure can be done 3/4 days prior to Botox treatments.
  • No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis to the area being treated for 5-7 days prior.
  • Do not shave the day of the procedure to avoid skin irritation. If there’s dense hair present in the treatment area, shave the day before you arrive for your appointment.
  • If you’re prone to cold sores, take an antiviral agent for 2 days prior to and the day of the treatment.
  • Avoid blood thinning agents for one week prior because bruising is a common side effect of microneedling.

Aftercare

Microneedling Aftercare

Lash Extensions

  • Please arrive to your lash appointment on time

  • On the day come with clean lashes, no makeup or oily products such as moisturiser around the eye area as this affects the application of your lash extensions

  • Remove contacts; bring glasses

  • Please don't use eyelash curlers prior

  • If you wear waterproof mascara discontinue to use 3 days prior

  • Ensure there's no residue of lash glue on your lashes if you have recently worn strips

  • If you come to your appointment with dirty lashes, a portion of your total appointment time will be deducted for pre treatment cleansing. This will result in less time lashing (lash bath/deep clean - at an additional charge £5)

  • Clean lashes means less time cleaning during your appointment therefore more time lashing = more lashes

  • Wash your hair beforehand as you will not be able to get your lashes wet for 24-48 hours

  • Avoid caffeine as it can cause twitching which makes it dificult to apply your lash extensions and this will eat up into your lash appointment

Lash T&Cs

  • You must have 40% of lashes to qualify for an infill

  • Anything over 3 weeks is charged as a full set

  • Infills are recommended every 2/3 weeks depending on how well you look after them and your lash cycle

  • Please note: If a lash bath is required an additional £5 will be charged but this will also eat into your appointment time meaning less time to lash = less lashes

  • I only only infill my own work. If you require a soak off this will be charged £10 or £5 with a new set of lashes

  • If this is your first time booking with me a patch test is required at least 24-48 hours before your appointment. You will need to book this separately to your lash appointment via the booking system

  • If you choose not to do the patch test I cannot go ahead with your treatment

LED Light Therapy

LED Light Therapy Precautions/Contraindications

LED IS COMPLETELY HARMLESS!

LIGHT SENSITIVE MEDICATION

If you are taking medication that increases light sensitivity there may be a temporary , slight reaction. However these are to be flagged as a precaution not a contradiction.

Medication that cause light sensitivity may potentially allow your body to absorb more light than normal. However, because LED therapy delivers non-harmful low-level light (as opposed to UV for example) the only side affects would be a slightly red/flushed appearance to the skin, or possibly a rash. This is temporary and will go down after a few hours.

PERFUMES AND ST JOHN'S WORT

May make the skin light sensitive but can be treated with caution. If you come with perfume on your skin you may get a little bit of temporary redness (no long term damage).

ROACCUTANE MEDICATION

If you have been prescribed the drug you will not be able to use LED therapy until the course of treatment has been completed. You can start having LED therapy the day after stopping taking roaccutane medication.

TOPICAL ROACCUTANE- ISOTRETINOIN

This very strong retinol product can cause skin irritation, redness, burning, dry or peeling skin. You can still have the treatment, but if the skin is very red and raw you will need to reduce your usage of isotretinoin, then introduce LED a few days later. Its much better if you discontinue to use a topical product slowly, gaining results without causing vulnerability to the skin. If the application of isotretinoin is reduced to every 2nd or 3rd night and LED is then introduced, good results will be gained without causing discomfort.

Its advisable to ask to refrain from using the cream the night before you have LED therapy.

AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES

Generally it is fine to be treated with light therapy with most forms of autoimmune disease.  For example some clients have rheumatoid arthritis or polymyalgia rheumatic arthritis but can still have LED treatment

An exception to this is if you are suffering from lupus erythematous. In this case you must get permission from your doctor before proceeding with the treatment

Lupus is the name given to a collection of autoimmune diseases in which the human immune system becomes hyperactive and attacks normal, healthy tissues. Symptoms of these diseases can affect differently body systems, including joints, skin, kidneys, blood cells, heart and lungs.

PREGNANCY

This is a precaution as manufacturers never test equipment on pregnant women. Our insurance does not cover the treatment of pregnant women, so before treatment can proceed you would need to consult your obstetrician or your doctor must be made aware.

A disclaimer form would need to be signed explaining that the doctor has given their consent.

BREAST FEEDING MOTHERS

Breast feeding is not a contradiction. However you would need to consult your GP or midwife and follow their recommendations along with written consent.
